it's a good idea, it's probably relatively easy to code, but PHPBB is forever issuing updates as new vulnerabilities are found, so every time there's an update, any "hacks" or "mods" have then got to be applied to the updated versions - it as a helluva job every single time, so it's probably better to keep mods to a minimum.
This is why I keep suggesting that Andy looks at the SMF board - it's got all sorts of goodies built-in (spell checkers etc), it has a well-deserved reputation as being well-coded, and bomb-proof, and I've found it far easier to use (both for the owner of the board, and the guests) than PHPBB.
If he's going to do a migration to it, the move of servers would be an excellent time to do it! - there are some migration scripts available to do the job for you, that way, you could keep this version up and running, overlap it with the other one for a week or three, and try it out - if you decided you didn't like it, you could whack phpbb back in a bit quick! -(but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to!)
lets just say...........

Sounds like a plan, what I think would be a better idea would be to set it up on another website for a few weeks and see if it has any limitations - We do have to be careful about spam so I will have to look into how it guards against that. Looks good initially and good find cheers, some research is needed before I take it up.
