Kiwi fruit seeds.

Post: # 765Post Andy Hamilton »

This post comes with a warning never turn on your computer after a couple of drinks, E-bay will call you

I bought some kiwi fruit seeds and you need a south facing wall to grow them on as I live in a flat and only have an allotment I have not got a wall. Any suggestions for swaps will be considered.

if you have a sheltered spot on your allotment i'd give them a go. here everyone grows them up a trellis, balcony, or pergola-like structure. they actually don't like too much sun, ours shrivelled up last year as i mistakenly thought they needed full sun, the new ones are now thriving under a tree, though still in pots until i can persuade andy to build me my pergola!
they will need some protection from frost, but i think once established they're fairly hardy.
best wishes, sophie

Hi Andy
I too know the hazzards of booze + e-bay.
If you really don't want to try the kiwi fruit seeds; I'll take them on.
I've just posted a notice for cowslips if you want any of them. Not edible I know - but bee friendly.

Pretty old post that, had forgotten I stuck it up and I think I will give them a go next year when I move house, but will give you half if you want cous cous. Don't worry about the cowslip we have plenty of bees and wasps that come visiting our allotment as the lady next door only seems to grow flowers (and weeds  )

The other thing with kiwis is I am pretty sure that they are dioecious (I think that is how it is spelled) ie you need male and female plants to get a crop.
