get a post to acknowledge that I've read it!

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

There's a post on the sub-forum about changing your log in (on page 2 now). It tells me there are 2 answers but I can only see one as the second was deleted before I had chance to see it. There-fore it stubbenly refuses to accept that I've 'read' it and the little wheel thing stays red, as does the little wheel for the whole of this sub-section...

I don't know what all the different symbols mean.

Some are the same colours, some are different, some move and some don't.

Have I missed a section on where it explains them all?

I don't understand the little symbols at all - I didn't know that was what they were for. So I'm no help, but you do know more than me! ;-).

MW I've got the same problem, no matter how many times I click on that post it still refuses to change. I've resorted to steadily ignoring it and hoping it will go away automatically after a set amount of time has passed.

I don't have a clue about it all, I can't find a bit that explains the system, probally because I don't know the system

Try finding the Page with the sub section and then click "Mark forums read" at the top right hand corner of the category boxes. That should sort you out.

Aha! It worked! I managed to remove the unread post, but had to read all the other unread posts on the forum first as I didn't seem to have the option of just marking a single sub-forum as read, I only had that option for the whole forum. But still, the post is gone and I am happy.
