How do I control white fly

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

Apparently Winter is 2.8C to 13.1C on average with 14 days of frost.

Bear in mind there is a great belief that Tasmania is wickedly cold ( Iam sitting in 30C weather at present) and I have moved from the subtropics of SE Queensland (erggh).
I don't think it is very cold.. what do you think based on those averages?

I think you have the perfect climate  though I'm a bit concerned about your 1 frost day in summer!

It sounds very mild and I can't see why anyone would advise that you can't grow melons! They grow them here (OK by here I mean France and south of where I live!) where it is colder in winter and same sort of summer temps (maybe they are all grown in hot houses, I don't know :dontknow: )

Just shove some marigold seeds straight into the ground, they should do fine. But maybe wait until your spring!

Thanks for that, it is good to get some perspective on the climate- I think it is perfectly pleasant!
Mind you I just love Tassie. I might try some melons next year as I am emboldened by your advice!

Ha ha I've just looked at the climate for Rennes airport (about 35km south of here) and it's showing average temps quite similar to yours  - I can assure you it gets a lot colder in winter as the average is not showing the amounts of minus 8C we get! Also if only our rainfall fell so regularly as the average (though granted down there by the airport is a lot drier than where I am).

Ah yes very similar, it seems that I could take more advice from your part of the world gardening wise than most parts of Australia!
Our Averages don't seem to tell a whole picture either, but I will assume we have approximately the same extremes!
Now all I have to do is do what works for you, just make sure I am six months out...simple!
