Boletus, the mushroom search engine

Want your Mushroom ID? Ask here and also look at some of the old posts here to see what you might have. Make sure you use a field guide and triple check using google images.

Nice, but I'd appreciate a few words to go with the diagrams (could be included as alt tags on the images). E.g. Which of your three Ecology options represents 'field'? (never mind 'my cellar'!)

Take nobody's word for it, especially not mine! If I offer you an ID of something based on a photo, please treat it as a guess, and a starting point for further investigations.

It doesn't work with Internet Explorer either. Plus when you click to go back all you get is a renewed advert across the top of the page, it doesn't actually go back, just give you more adverts. That is a real pet hate of mine.

boletusapp wrote:Hi all,

I wanted to announce that there is a free version of Boletus for Android! You can download it at no cost at:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... letus.demo

Moreover, the main application has been updated with new functionallities
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... my.boletus

Luck and mushrooms
Just trying the demo, currently it's functionally unusable. I picked a mushroom at random that I saw at the weekend, the amethyst deceiver Laccaria amethystina, but I can't find it by either latin or common name. If I follow the search procedure for identification or I enter a name to search I'm bounced back to the Terms and Conditions and have to tick the "I promise not to sue Mateu" page every time before the results are displayed, and no matter what I do I seem to get the exact same search list returned!

As it's ripping Wiki text and images from the web on the fly, it's of very limited use in the field where reception may be nonexistant.

Had a look, gave it a go, uninstalled.
