Treatment for mosquito bites
I'm one of those people who gets eaten alive. I've already been bitten this year. The bites seem to last for ages, swell up and itch like hell. Even when I think they've gone, when I get warm they start itching again.
Anyway a friend told me a treatment which I tested out. It's easy, cheap and works better than TCP, vinegar, or bite sticks.
For me anyway.
Drumroll ...
Make a small paste of washing up liquid and sugar. Apply to bite and then put a plaster on. It draws the sting out.
Two treatments and a very nasty bite has gone for good.

Basil oil also works a treat! I use essential oil but I see no reason why you cant just grab a sprig of basil and rub that on the bite (obviously later on when basil is growing better)

My pleasure. I found it actually treats the bite rather than just relieving it for an hour or so.Carltonian Man wrote:Thanks for that one SSG. Copied and pasted, Mrs CM gets eaten alive in summer

Thanks. Another one I've not heard of before. Anyone know why some people get attacked more than others? It's always baffled me.becks77 wrote:Basil oil also works a treat! Prevention? Avon skin so soft before you get bitten. It works.

Garlic and Chillis work well.
I hardly ever get bitten, but people I knew in Chongqing (south China) always eat garlic and chilli to stop the things biting them.
Tea tree oil or lavender oil are great to take away the itching.

Re: Treatment for mosquito bites
if I'm around, nobody else tends to get bitten!
I'll have to remember the washing up liquid and sugar paste, or the basil for next time. thanks!
