Horsehair worms

Post: # 292834Post Odsox »

This is new to me that I thought I'd share.
A few days ago when it was a thoroughly wet day something in the middle of my window caught my eye. At first I thought it was one of my missuses hairs caught on the wet window, by watching it, it was obviously alive and mobile.
I just remembered to look it up and apparently it's a Horsehair Worm, harmless and fairly common, but I certainly have never seen one before.
It lives in water, but I have no idea how it came to be in the centre of my window (on the outside that is)

Very interesting, I've never heard of them either. It was obviously brought in by the rain. It does look light enough to be picked up by a fairly mild breeze.
