I'm now self sufficient in ...

Post: # 290236Post Flo »

I've just had a delivery of an enormous pumpkin from a local veg growing scheme as none of the members took it in their veg share. It weighs. Have phoned the local family who are always in line for such things. We'll do a sharing no doubt in some form or other.

Does anyone else get unexpected deliveries that make them suddenly self sufficient in something?

I sometimes become self sufficient in egg boxes, that is as exciting as it gets normally

Not self-sufficient exactly, but we got a couple of pumpkins from Lidl for 29p each! Nice sized ones, not too big.

One of these little fellas has done us a batch of pumpkin fries for two (think oven chips without spuds  ) a Moroccan-style lamb and pumpkin stew (four portions) and I've still got a quarter of it in the fridge.

We ate the other one over several meals while we were on holiday.

I wish I'd bought more. :(

Last week I was self sufficient in rain, this week it looks to be self sufficient in frost.

It's just wet and windy here, as usual. The only difference is we need the heating on, otherwise it could be summer.

We actually had a frost yesterday, on the grass but no ice. Rather early for here, but missed it this morning by two degrees.
I did notice yesterday that some daffodils have 1" shoots, so spring is on it's way.

An ample supply of dry thunderstorms. Yesterday, after some deliberation, I decided that the chook shed roof did not really need repair. This was in no way influenced by the lightning bolt that grounded about 200 metres away while I was on the roof.
