Angry with Debenhams

Post: # 220598Post mrsflibble »

yes, I know it's my own fault for ordering from a multinational conglomerate evil blah blah blah.... but I lurve their wraps and this one was on sale.

they asked me to write a review of their service and of my item.....So I was honest. And the buggers rejected it!!

here's my comment and their response to it:

There was a problem with your review
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for . Your feedback is very important to us and other customers.

Unfortunately, your review did not meet our guidelines for posting on our site.

Your review:

I love the wrap itself, it is soft and warm... but the debenhams online ordering and deilver to store service was abominable. A customer service call centre who had no idea how to find where my order had actually got to, 3.5 weeks for delivery to my local store AND once there I had to try and scrape identification out of my purse because I don't own a printer.

buck your ideas up debenhams!!!

For some reason they didnt want this on their site, so peeps... when you see reviews on debenhams website KNOW they are BIASED in debenham's favour and not honest. grrrr.

I think if you had emailed them to complain then they probably would have sent you a £20 voucher and apologised profusely.

I understand why they wouldn't want to publish your comments for all to see. It is their website after all. Posted on an independent website would have been fine - like this one

I suppose Amazon don't mind that much because they are just publishing your comment but the item you are commenting on isn't their own - they are just acting as agents to sell it. Honest reviews there stop them having to deal with irate people wanting to return goods later whereas Debenhams are stinging because you criticised their service and don't want that broadcast.

Perhaps you should have complained direct and waited for the money off voucher...

I like your review!

It would be useful if there was a website like tripadvisor that was especially for retail, I find it so useful if i'm visiting a place, and if anything goes wrong I have a good old rant on there and feel so much better afterwards
I changed my signature because it was rubbish; I like what you said

AngeB - are you sitting in a bath?

But damn it how happy we'll be!

There you go Mrs F, it looks like if you download this Stephen Fry add on for your browser, you can leave reviews on their site that they apparently can't delete (or even read)

I worry about sites like Trip Advisor - apparently hotels etc have been posting negative things about their rivals and good stuff about themselves so it's not very reliable. Plus I think people only tend to write reviews if their eperience was extreme (i.e. amazing or terrible) whereas most people who probably had an average experience don't bother.

I am feeling slightly guilty about an email I sent to British Gas on Sunday. They've had my name wrong for months and I was trying to log into their website which had gone wrong and had one or two other issues. Unfortunately, I'd also had 2 glasses of wine so I sent an email unleashing the fury. I haven't actually had a response yet but I phoned up yesterday and spoke to a very helpful and effiecient man who sorted out all the problems. I can't revoke my email now though and it was quite strongly worded! Just as well nobody else will be able to read it on their website!

This made me laugh ;-).

I'm angry at Next but quite unreasonably. This is why you should always read the terms and conditions.

- my mother bought me a furry hat for Christmas (from Next) which was too tight. I took it back and they swapped it for a giftcard (fair enough, thank you Next). BUT, they also gave me a card which said if I spent £15 on their website (the value of the giftcard) I would get £10 free. So, I spent an hour yesterday grappling with their crappy website which kept trying to install a Flash player and confusing my old computer, eventually I managed to get to the checkout, vowing never to buy anything online from Next again. I redeemed my giftcard & the £10 but needed to pay about £3 more because I'd ordered something slightly more expensive (because I can never find anything the exact value of a giftcard). BUT! You can't just buy something and pay for it! I had to open a bloody Next account and they seem to think they're going to INVOICE ME! For £3!!!! So I rang the call centre, and said I wanted to pay the balance and close the account, because I don't do store accounts, and they said I had to wait 24 hours?!!

This is absolutely my fault for not reading the terms and conditions and getting suckered in with the £10 thing but I'm really annoyed I've ended up opening a store account and now I've got to go to the trouble of closing it. It is my fault though, mea culpa.

Hooray managed to close it. It took me 24 hours and speaking to 4 different people. I still find it incredible you can't just buy something on their site and pay for it, never mind, luckily I will never have to try again!

Glad you managed that Susie :thumbright: and what a good warning to anyone else reading this! You wouldn't normally read thru all the terms and conditions first on a website for a shop - you'd just automatically imagine you could order something and pay for it like everywhere else!
