Might I ask for your support?

Post: # 199969Post Green Aura »

From time to time we ask fellow Ishers to support a vote for something or other. I'm hoping this is OK as I've not asked (but I'm sure I'll get slapped quick enough if it's not   )

It may seem quite a trivial thing but I'd like to ask you to support the Screen Machine in the National Lottery Good Causes Awards. As the name suggests it's a mobile cinema which travels the Highlands and Islands bringing the cinema to small rural communities. Otherwise everyone would have travel long distances to the nearest cinema - for us that would be 200 mile round trip - for some it would mean island hopping!

And it's fantastic - and not just for the kids (although it is really important for them). We go regularly, it comes round every 6-8 weeks and is a bit of an event.

So have a look here http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/index.cfm - you'll see from the map there's not much else up here (it's the loan purple button at the top  )

Oh, and closing is 18th June, so if you're going to vote be quick.

Thanks folks.
Maggie

Done!!

We have the mobile cinema here in one of the local villages - the nearest cinemas are in Galway - so yeah, a 120mile round trip!
It's a great idea & means that Gail gets to take Leah to see the kiddy films... (altho Gail & I do the morning showings in Galway for 'important' 3D films, like Alice in Wonderland!!)
