What would you miss if you were totally SS?

Post: # 168436Post mrsmiggins »

If you were totally SS what would you miss? I'm talking completely trivial here, because obviously if it was a survival situation I wouldn't care, but I would miss tea and coffee! I know there's alternatives, but sometimes only a proper cuppa will do

Just about everything really, but most of all hot running water and electricity for my hair dryer. No I don't think I'd be able to produce enough electricity in Brittany in winter when the wind isn't blowing to run things with powerful motors. Being SS is not something I am remotely interested in, thank you. In fact there are times when I don't even like being Ish much (I have a bit of a 'Boots'* moment from time to time).

Internet and a gas hob (love cooking but find solid fuel not so versatile)

modern health care (i would be dead in a couple of months)
broadband and computers
maxis and popcap computer games
the car
washing machine
dryer (only missed in winter)
washing up liquid (sorry, but it's true)
world news
crappy magazines
electricity on tap (meaning not having to generate my own)
television
cooker (i am finding it hard with the cooker i have now becuse it's so inconsistent)

sorry, but I am only selfsufficientISH i will never be self sufficient, i am greener and cheaper living than i was 4 years ago, but i will never be a live-in-a-cave hermit. no offence to Claire who kind of DOES live in a cave lol!!! it's a beautiful cave, stunning countryside around it but you're a stronger person than I am!!!
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
ve-he-he-he-heryyyyyyy soooooooooooon!!!!

I doint want to be completely SS - i think society is a good thing - or should be anyway. we should share our skills, help out those that need a little extra. otherwise old age is looking grim eh?

would miss chocolate big time.
