Re: take your Canvas Bags to the supermarket
When I was about 12 in ooh, '79, there was a bloke on the telly who played the piano and sang satirical songs. He used to play the occasional deliberate 'bum' note, which was a hilarious thing to do. I think this Tim fellow is probably a chip off that block. Damned if I can remember the name of that bloke from the late 70s. I'll buy a pint for anyone who knows who I'm talking about and can give me his name.
Hint: He did a 'spaghetti western' song where he got shot in the face with spaghetti in a gun duel.
I remember now, Eddie Izzard. No pint for anyone I'm afraid.

That's awful - we used to be relatively light hearted about this particular 'quirky' behaviour.Annpan wrote:A friend of my family lost her wee boy, age 5, through this...
No wonder you are anti - plastic bags.

From 1 October it costs 5p for every plastic carrier bag you request or use, no matter where from, ie take aways, market stalls and so on as well as supermarkets. Suddenly EVERYONE you see has a proper shopping bag! I think this only applies to Wales but it's a great idea!

Growing old is much better then the alternative!

I get my big shop delivered and sometimes I will get bags with one item in! I have canvas bags for when I go out shopping but 'helpful' shop staff sometimes put my shopping in a bag despite me asking them not too.

I am finding myself quiet sharp with staff when it comes to bags .. by now you would think that standing there with a shopping bag would trigger their little brains into the fact that I don't want a bag .. even when I snap saying I said I dont want a bag they look confused ... so its really nice when some one responds with a smile and a thank you when I say I dont need bag thanks ..
