free patterns
With nighttimes drawing in I've decided that it's time to start making stuff. I saw some good links in the knitting thread but have found a few others (both knitting and sewing) that I thought that I'd share.
http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=227024s (a good mixture of knitting projects)
http://tinyurl.com/35hov4 (funky socks)
A couple of free sewing ones
http://www.frugalsewing.com
http://burdastyle.com/pattern
Then of course there are the about.com freebies
sewing.about.com
knitting.about.com
If anyone knows of any others then please share them.

wow... I can't believe the Burda one is sooo good. I made my wedding dress to a burda pattern so I guess I like their style. I have got to get my sewing machine out again... I'm getting itchy fingers
Thanks for posting the link Contadina

I'm just finishing some box cushions for a new sofa that contadino's just made and can't wait to finish so that I can start knitting. Sadly I haven't knitted since I was a child so I think that I'd best start with a scarf rather than that gorgeous purple wraparound cardy with the belt. Or I may just go Burda bonkers. I'm so impressed that you made your wedding dress Annpan and most envious that Snapdragon gets to create her own wool. I think that for now I had better keep it simple!
I'd suggest it to anyone. I had only made curtains and cushion covers before so in at the deep end.... I'm so impressed that you made your wedding dress Annpan...
It took about 3 months every other evening and occasional weekend time, I left the hem of the underskirt undone until the morning of the wedding so that my mum could feel that she was saving the day by doing it... bless. The rest of the dress was finished a whole week before that. It is far from perfect, but then so am I. It was lovely though and cost about £80 for material, I also made a full length black velvet cape to go over it (I got married 20th December) that cost about £40... and I had enough material left to make my flowergirl's dress and cape too.
Unfortunatley I am so unorganised that it is still in the garment bag from the day after. I have never had it cleaned and it was very muddy when it went in there - in 2003 I am to ashamed to have it cleaned now.

Cheers Fee.
I had a scout around for men's patterns but ony found a site for making "revealing" swimwear and that's not going to keep you warm! I did find some knitting patterns for men though.

Stick some fresh mud on and pretend it's all just happened yesterday!Annpan wrote: I am to ashamed to have it cleaned now.
Would be a shame to have it rotting away - it's something to show your grand kids in future years - or even to have one of them get married in!
