Found some discarded ½ inch concrete reinforcing bar last week. After wrestling it to straighten and iron out the creases I ended up with four 3 metre lengths, one 2m length and a few pieces of 1m which, with some old steel plate for decoration, are now fashioned into a garden arbour.
Mrs CM wanted one to grow French beans up.

Not at all easy. On site I used a narrow gap between two fence posts and unbent what I could, then with a lump hammer, bashed against the discarded railway sleeper (background in top photo). Once home I held each rod in a sturdy vice and worked every bend a few inches at a time.Green Aura wrote: How on earth did you manage to get them so straight?

Nice job,and great use of scavenged materials.
