Ladybird and lacewing attractant

A garden centre had sachets of these products at a much reduced price, so, naturally, I bought some. Are they effective and will they keep until next year?

I have never used these types of things, but I would think that now would be a good time to make some attractive overwintering places for ladybirds and lacewings. I cut hollow stems of things like fennel, lovage or angelica and cut them into lengths about 12" and tie into bundles and leave them strategically around the place for the ladybirds to go into, you can cut the bottoms off pop bottles, stuff straw in, tie string round the neck and hang in your shed or sheltered spot for lacewings to go into, you could use your attractant stuff now to get them to overwinter in your garden so as you have a supply of predators in the spring.
