Oil seed rape
Right while watching some program the other evening Farmer Adam said he sprays his rape to dessicate it before harvest ... I have looked on the net to see if this is what happens to the rape we use for edible oil and can find very little to nothing ... can any one tell what they use please?

Re: Oil seed rape
Can't help with rape, but potato farmers spray their 2nd earlies to force them to "mature" by applying herbicide to kill the haulm.
When I was in the French agricultural scene a few aeons ago they used Paraquat.

Still can't help with rape I'm afraid, but I did learn yesterday that Irish farmers are being recommended to spray wheat crops with Round Up to force ears to "ripen".
I presume it's for odd corners of fields where it's still a bit green when the rest of the field is ready to harvest.
Could well be the same reason for spraying oil seed rape I suppose and using the same herbicide.
