Hi All,

There is a vote on http://greenhamlet.com where you can vote for which of six houses in Europe you like the best. In the UK one is Ben Law's house and the other Tony Wrench (the secret round house). The others are in Poland, Estonia and Romania. There are links to each of the builder's websites. Once you have voted the results so far are displayed.

I'm planning an eco-village in Poland so I'm interested in which style is most attractive but I suspect all the houses will come out fairly even in the vote.

Methinks if you are planning a whole village then lots of different styles would be better tyhan them all looking the same a la b4rr4ts!

i take it the planning regulations must be more relaxed in poland than the uk eh?

Polish 'country' planning laws are WONDERFUL.

Each region of Poland has an area (say 10ha) above which you automatically get planning permission to build a house and barns etc to farm or manage the land. Asia, a neighbour, bought her 10ha and started a lavender farm http://www.lawendowepole.pl/

You don't even have to buy all 10ha; you could by 5ha and rent 5ha. As long as you control 10 ha you get permission.

They also have a system that allows you to plan broadly what you want and if you change your mind it's OK to change the design as long as it has the same footprint and still complies with the constraints like the colour of the roof (which is restricted in protected areas)

Great isn't it.
