I just learned that, two days after we move to our new place, they are having a 'New Farmers Gathering' (http://newfarmersgathering.harvesthand.com/) not far away. Yay! There will probably be fellow hippies there! It will be so nice not having to drive for two hours just to reach civilization and interesting events!

Sounds a great way of getting to know like-minded locals!

On the remote chance that there are lurkers on here who were planning to attend the New Farmers Gathering, it is only right that I pass on the information that the event has been cancelled due to poor preregistration. Bummer, man.

That's a shame but not, I fear, unusual for small communities. I'm sure you'll get to know everyone quickly enough. Or they will get to know you.
Everyone knew who we were within a few days of moving in here. We still don't know who half of them (they?) are.
