People in Bristol (or nearby) come for coffee
or tea....
Over the past few weeks myself and a group of others have been working on turning a coffee shop/book shop/DVD shop into a co-operative run venture. The owner is moving to Korea with his fiancee on January 31st and we shall be opening at some point hopefully on 2nd February (2009) but perhaps later that week depending on how many people help clean up the shop. The shop was previously called "the little Lab" and in recognition of this we should be called "The little Co-op".
The little Co-op is on 156 Church Road, Redfield/St George, BS5 9HX or for local folk opposite T***o and next door to the pet shop. It used to be a video shop before that a green grocer and before that a butchers.
We will be selling second hand books, DVD's, CD's, fair trade tea and coffee and cakes. The hope is that we will also be selling health food in the future, watch this space.
I will be working the odd shift in there and it would be great to see you or if you are feeling keen then give me a PM to find out how to get involved.

Bit of a long journey for a coffee but best of luck and have one for me.

Put the kettle on - we'll be there in half term!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free

Wow thats cool.
In August, me and my OH should be in the Bristol area visiting friends and family so I should pop in for a cuppa!

Be great to see any of you if you can make it.
We will need to constantly fundraise, we will need help staffing the shop and February 1st - 3rd we will need help cleaning it and sorting it out. Any donations of books and videos is also most welcome.azjh77 wrote:Only down the road..I could walk it in 20 minutes... how can I help!
At last I can actually do something useful! All my other online friends seem to live 'up north' somewhere!

It'll depend on the weather whether I can get over to Brizzle (note to self look it up on streetmap or somewhere) - but I'll definitely bring you some books (gardening/herb ? or novels?)
shall I bring my stash of 'returnable' supermarket carrier bags too? for when people buy lots of books/ videos

Any books really as long as they are not total rubbish. Gardening Herb, if you could spare them would be great. With novels we are debating setting up a system where you can swap them for free if you buy a cuppa. Bags yes I think so.snapdragon wrote:It'll depend on the weather whether I can get over to Brizzle (note to self look it up on streetmap or somewhere) - but I'll definitely bring you some books (gardening/herb ? or novels?)

What are the opening times/days? got friends in your area.

We are heading to Bristol on Tuesday and are intending to visit the shop - so if any ishers are near by and fancy a cuppa it would be lovely to meet you!
Let us be lovely

Re: People in Bristol (or nearby) come for coffee
I am really looking forward to Tuesday now.
As far as other days are concened, well I should be working mondays from now on and the shop is open 10am-5ish pm. If it is full of ishers then we can stay open for as long as we like, well until I get hungry and go home for my dinner. I also pop in fairly regualy so if anyone else is in the area please do pop in and say hello.
We have been thinking of hiring the whole place out to people too. The rates are pretty cheap, we expect anyone to show to buy a few drinks! Any other suggestions??
