101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

71. Upon coming back from holiday, after checking the animals, you go straight into the garden to check on the veg patch and the greenhouse. You then wander round the house checking every room to see how the drying/growing is going on each windowsill. Then you let out a wail because the slugs have had a party and have eaten the lettuces...

72. Sitting down to a meal of your own roast pork, carrots, beans and baked potatoes, only to be disappointed because after one mouthful of pork you realise that you're never going to be able to keep Gloucester Old Spots again. Why? Because while it is delicious and much better than commercial pork, it's nowhere near as good as the Saddleback pork you had the night before! (And yes, the flavour was consistent across all six GOS we had, while the Saddleback is definitely on a higher plane. Sigh!)

74. Driving past a fly tip and wondering what useful things you could make from the rubbish.
75. Looking at every species of flora and wondering what you could make with it.
76. Material & monetary assets become insignificant and for once your days are taken up with something more important than drinking alcohol; you have to make it!

Cheers,

92 Completely losing the ability to look at anything for what it is - instead you look at it for what it could be with a bit of ingenuity, elbow grease or several hours cooking!

93 Wondering why you aren't filthy rich by now - after all you buy all your clothes from the charity shop, grow your own veg, make christmas prezzies your self, brew your own booze, gather food from the hedge rows or buy it reduced to clear and freeze it
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Ya know.. I reckon that makes you a millionaire-ish!!!! Your life is rich - you only need enough money to cover the things that you can't do yourself..
