Scenes From A Smallholding by Chas Griffin; Eubury Press; ISBN 009190507

This is the light entertainment version of John Seymour's splendid 'Fat Of The Land', and accounts a couple's move from suburbia to a Welsh smallholding, where they try to fathom out how to be self sufficient. Much of it was originally published as a regular column in the HDRA's magazine, but this has been elaborated on, giving a bit of background and reflection. It's a droll account of many trials and tribulations.

I've nearly finished this book, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Laughed out loud reading his description of extracting honey - haven't done that with a book in years!

Oh it's brilliant! I have a signed copy, to boot.

My mum and Tracey Smith stayed with Chas and his wife, last year on their National Downshifting Week tour. What a great guy he is. I loved reading the book. Infact I read it in two days, it's very informative and very funny.

Chas was thrilled when I told him it was only the second book I had ever read that made me laugh out loud!!! It's very very funny, thoroughly recommended.

I saw 'More Scenes...' reviewed in the paper a couple of weeks ago; it said he is now also battling with MS, which is a bugger. Couldn't find it in the bookshop the other day; have to get hold of a copy, though.
