Gunsights
This is possibly in the wrong place, but has anyone any experience of the numerous (and cheap) laser gun sights that are on eBay??

I fancy a cheap sight for my gas air gun so I can bag some nice September Rabbits for the freezer. (Mildy comes under Foraging, soes it not
)

I wonder if your gas air gun is strong enough to really kill a rabbit with a single shot... If so, you should rather get a better type of laser sight. Those on the Ebay link mostly seem to me like ones for airsoft (i.e. might losen too quickly with the recoil), and I'd definitely prefer a laser scope or simple laser sight to a laser pointer.

I think if you have a proper air gun that actually kills rabbits, you should be able to get your meat even without a scope. Just adjust the sights to the distance and ammunition you will use.

Thanks Johnnie. Sadly there is a spanner in the works because I unearthed the gun from the garage and noticed that I had foolishly put it way (some time ago) with a co2 cylinder in it. Now I cannot get the cylinder out!
I think some serious pokering with an opened out coat hanger is going to be required!
BTW the gun is a Crossman Rabbitstopper, which I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that it should b powerful enough to get them wabbits with hehe

many moons ago, wove my own rabbit nets, and kept a ferret - great fun, but got heartily hacked off with digging the little b****r out! (heavy clay round here!)
Personally, I get on fine with the relatively cheap conventional scope that came on my BSA- a "Marchwood" 4x32 - have seen them for around £35!
(and from an eco point of view needs no batteries)

Re: Gunsights
Get in some more shooting practice and use the sights that came with it? A cheap and fun option! Seriously, I've always preferred iron sights, mostly open but tending towards ghost rings more recently.Thurston Garden wrote:This is possibly in the wrong place, but has anyone any experience of the numerous (and cheap) laser gun sights that are on eBay??

Oh, I can shoot all right - used to carry a Browning 9mm pistol for a living in a previous life.... (JSP 385 for those in the know )
But, before I can do anything I need to get the stuck cartridge out first!

them lazer sights on ebay are crap for kids ,
using the old iron sights supllied fitted on old or new rifles is very unaccurate and inhumane.and no hunters nowadays would use them on live prey for humane reasons
the crossman air /pellet gun/rifle is not really a powerfull enough weapon for rabbits even when standing on top of them
people considering killing animals should treat them with respect and have the ability to kill them accurately .
if you are gonna use apellet gun to kill get a decent one a theoben rapid is one of the best kill at 25 yards very accurately with some deerhunter sights
