Hot water maker!

WE have just bought a new hot water maker called a Tefal Quick Cup. 1 cup of hot water in 3 seconds. Seriously. Hot filtered water, whenever I want it! Or just filtered water.

And the bonus for us, being the way we are, is that there is no boil the kettle, forget, boil the kettle, get the cups out, forget, boile the kettle, get the teabags in the cups put the milk in, go and do work, boil the kettle, make the tea.

4 boils of more than 2 cups (our kettle won't do less than 3 mugs) or 1 cup of 90 deg C water?

I think it's GENIUS!

According to the gumph, it will save 65% of the energy of a kettle.

Anyone heard anything bad about them?

I've never heard either bad or good about them - this is the first time I hear it mentioned! Have to investigate....

I'd like to know how many cups of tea you have to make to get your money back 60 quid!!! - I only boil enough water each time!

I saw these - and a friend has one... they look great.. BUT, can you use them without the filter? I don't want to filter my water as it's already filtered as it comes into the house and don't really see the point in paying £x for filters over the years.

the latest kettle has a flat base so it can just boil a cupful - better is the kettle on the hob(trivet) on the fire - no leccy needed just a thick cloth to grab the handle
Finding a trivet these days though was a detective story and a half

We bought one but I find the water was not as hot as I like for my tea, but
I must admit I do like my tea very hot

I had one of these. I bought it from Costco around 6 months ago. It sounded great although I was a bit sceptical how something for £40 could produce consistently hot water. I was hoping i could scrap the kettle, only boil what i need and have an instant brew.

The reality was that the water was far too cool to make a decent brew. I never measured the temp of the water coming out of it but i reckon it would be around 70 degrees or so.

See how you get on......i'm pretty fussy when it comes to electrical equipment.....and i love a good proper coffee which you just can't do with these Tefal kettles. Thats why i've just spent a fortune on a commercial espresso machine and coffe grinder! Worth it though.....i can now produce better coffee's than Starbucks or Costa in my own home. I've been buying green organic coffee beans and roasting them myself......the taste is fantastic!

Hi, I read loads of reviews online and they made me change my mind and not buy a quickcup.
I have a kettle with a low minimum mark and quickboil setting THAT ACTUALLY BOILS (I tested it), a water filter and I'm happy.
and it takes up less space than a quickcup.

I'm very picky about tea too, if it's made with too cool water it's just not right.

Trivet wise, we'd have to run a real kettle on the gas cooker as we don't have a real fire anywhere, nor yet a wood burning stove. We're terrible suburbanites!

Yes, it filters, yes we can run it without filters, but we're in East Anglia and choose not to. We like our water to be vaguely liquid, and tea that we can see through!

Temperature wise mine is running at around 90 deg C. Which is hot enough for me for a cup of tea that I can drink straight away, without waiting for it to cool, getting distracted by work, and forgetting it completely! It also negates the amount of time I boil the water to 100deg C in a kettle, then leave it because i'm making coffee which shouldn't have boiling water on it. And I was taught that tea should be made with boiled water, as opposed to boiling. But that involved teapots. I love my teapot, but it's a waste for just me.

Coincidentally, apparently it matches my kitchen!

I guess it's a horses for courses thing. We were looking at getting a new kettle anyway, which would have been around £30 I expect, and whilst £60 is a lot - this was not an impulse buy, believe me - it suits our lifestyle. I work most of the evening, and the chance to have a cup of tea immediately is a good thing! I don't have time to wait if I want to have time with my family, time to get the house done, time to see my man and energy to exercise to keep this darned body mobile in this ridiculous weather.

That was a rant. Life is tricky, hence I haven't been around for a bit. But with threatening (loL!) letters from the mods I was terrified (lol some more!) and had to come back!

Thats great.......as long as it works for you thats all that matters. I must admit that it's great being able to make a cup o' tea/coffee without having to wait for the kettle to boil.

There's no denying that they do save a lot of electricity too.

That was it's main selling point to us. Even when we do use a kettle just the once and remember what we are doing and so on, we still boil more than 1 cup. Partly it's the nature of the hard water and partly it's the kettle, but we are a high usage household, and we're looking into ways of cutting that down.

Environmentally, we're like that little girl with the curl - where we're good, we're very very good, but where we're bad we're horrid!

Sorry to hear that life is tricky - hope things get better! LOL at the threatening letters!! LOL

I think... having read all the above posts... we'll stick with the kettle. I like my tea made with boiling water... very fussy when it comes to my cuppa. I only have a couple of cups a day and boil just the exact amount needed - it doesn't take long when it's just one cup.
