I’ve made a few batches using pink grapefruit juice. It retains that lovely citrus zing but loses its sour zap. Be interested to hear how the lemon turns out irigg. :sunny:

Not proper home brewing, but add a splash of either gin or vodka to some homemade lemon squash and you've got a really tasty and convincing hooch.

1st post for me on here

How much water did you add? Did you just top up to make a gallon?
I like the idea of this one, I've made a similar one from ribena, yummy!

Cheers!

Cheers for that! I'll note that down.
Lemon hooch takes me back to the days when I used to mix it with beer to make a (ahem) shandy!
Cheap night out.....

Popped out today for May flower and Gorse  (fingers like pin cushions!!)

Let you know how they turn out.
Thanks again for the speedy reply
Tim

I made some of this by mistake, when I was trying to make gorse flower wine. OK, probably not quite the taste you're after, but there was no detectable gorse flavour!

Right then, the lemon hooch has been bubbling away for the past 5-6 weeks and has now slowed down to about 2 bubbles a minute through the air lock. As I am off on my jollys tomorrow I'd like to take a 'sample' with me, do you think it will be safe to siphon some off into a 1 litre plastic bottle or will it be disaster in the 240 mile trip to cornwall? (kaboom!)

That'll be fine - PET bottles can take a lot of pressure. Howewer, just remember every now and again to release the pressure by loosening the cap.

Tim it should be fine, I put mine in plastic bottle and took to beach. Still tasted a bit yeasty so going to leave it in bottle, releasing lid now and then, for a few more weeks.

Need to decide what to put in empty dj now. More lemonade maybe!!!

Thankyou! I was hoping for that kind of answer  I even have a cooler box waiting for the trip the beach :drunken:
An idea Sarah, more 'lemonade'! I couldn't resist dunking the straw in the dj every so often just to 'test' if it wasn't poisonous
