Hello from 'Lozzie'

Post: # 7525Post Lozzie »

Hi

I can't even remember where I found the link to this site, but hey, I think it's what I am looking for!

I edit a few sites for Emagazines and Blogs for different locations and so am looking here for ideas for articles on greener living, which we want to incorporate within our media brand.

I am sure there will be lots of ideas!

If anyone would like to contribute, I would be more than happy to hear from you..

In line with our company policy, full credit will be given to the owner of the article and anything arising from the quantity of information on this site, will also include a link to Selfsufficientish.

Hi Lozzie

There should be another option on your survey - the light green version... That's me. I get the Sunday paper, which takes me a week (sometimes more) to read, but I can do that with my feet up or in bed, which is simply not so comfortable with the PC! And the paper does sometimes come in handy, for wrapping, insulating etc. If I had a "proper" fire, I'd need it for lighting that.

Very good point Ina...

Any papers we buy here do get used again - and again...

You can also use your paper to make a newspaper basket - saw this done at an eco fair in Presteigne, Wales...absolutely brilliant. Must try and find a link.

We get local papers fo free here and we use them to start fires, make paper "bricks" for burning, use them as mulch under straw, compost 'em or if all else fails, reccle 'em!

We get the Weekly Telegraph so that's one a week like Ina!

We need to have newspaper around the place (no freebies here, we're too off the beaten track  ) - invaluable for muddy shoes, starting the fire etc.

I almost never read the news on the PC.

Hi Lozzie - for the most part I read the news on the computer - I actually find it more interesting - news papers do not always show what is really happening out side of our own backyard - i can get a more well-rounded picture by looking around the net.
I also find forums like this a good place to see what is happening in other parts of the world from an honest & personal perception - things that you would never normally hear about.
It is amazing what you can find once you start looking ;)

I listen to the news on the radio but do get the occasional free newspaper which is just a pile of adverts....I use it for muddy boots, insulation for the compost and to put underneath the cat's basket....I would buy a sunday news paper but you have to take all the sections that you don't want and never read. I used to give these back at point of sale saying that I only wanted specific parts but now that they are all wrapped in plastic ( which I object to anyway) I don't have the option of choosing, so I don't buy.

A delayed hi and welcome lozzie.

A tricky topic really, what if the paper was printed on recycled paper and then recyled again afterwards. Or indeed used again.

Anyway PM me if you want to talk about contributions etc.

If the paper was recycled, then used again, then that is good use of recourses.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
