Hello to all
Been pretty useless at saying hello to all you new people, plenty of you too. Still not back on line though, SO big hello now
Has anyone else had trouble getting a migration authorisation code, from their broadband provider, they don't answer their phone or email!

Re: Hello to all
Andy, are you still having trouble getting this sorted out? It seems to have gone on for months.Andy Hamilton wrote:Has anyone else had trouble getting a migration authorisation code, from their broadband provider, they don't answer their phone or email!
I've heard it can sometimes be a problem. If they give you an authorisation code you can transfer between ISPs. But if they don't you have to wait for your existing ISP to 'release' the ASDL line before another ISP can use it. This means that if you change ISPs you can lose your broadband link until the old ISP sees fit to update their connections.
Has your old ISP signed up to the Code of Practice? If so you might have some comeback against them. May be worth contacting Ofcom anyway.

They have signed up and I have sent an email to ofcom (last week) but still no joy and that is the situation I am in no service and no MAC (authorisation code).
Will try again to phone them tomorrow but they tell you it is at least a half hour wait and I have been trying on lunchtimes where I only get about 20 mins at home.
Letter to my mp next perhaps

Has you ISP got any of its own forums with some sort of support section? In the past I've found this is the only way to get any sort of attention from my ISP (Tiscali - [spit]) - the admin. people there seem to be able to get the attention of the helpdesk better than by telephone or email.
Or how about trying the forums on ADSL Guide? They have lots of different sections covering most of the ISPs; maybe someone there can suggest what to do.

But I know what you mean about not understanding a word they are babbling on about - all this technology stuff...
Wait till I try to set my own PC up. Then you specialists can all give me step by step instructions... (I do know I have to switch it on first, though!)
