Hello all from New Zealand

Post: # 84653Post Michael Hay »

Hello from "Clean Green" New Zealand, the land of Milk & Honey downunder.
My main interest is with the Elderberry tree.
I have in the past made many beverages from this wonderful plant.
I believe this tree is very much under valued for its medicinal qualities.

Hiya, Michael! I wish we had more elderberries in the area... Have planted one myself, as they do grow well here.

Hi there from a pom now in NZ. where abouts are you, I am in canterbury. I have a couple of elderberry trees, but the climate where I am is too dry (officially the lowest rainfall in NZ) and they survive, but do not flourish, though perhaps I should take cuttings and get a few smaller trees and stick them in the orchard which is on irrigation.
Why don't you start a new thread in the appropriate section devoted to the use of Elderberries - the poor mans medicine chest.
Opinionated but harmless

Hello and welcome.
I had an ex-boyfriend from NZ (he called his hometown Wellington-Nowhere). I think he still lives in London. I miss the antipodean scene in London ("Church" on Sundays!) I miss L&P which he brought back from one return home to NZ.

:hello2: Hello Micheal

You had me going there, Multiveg! I was thinking 'missing Worcestershire sauce?!?

Then I googled it and came up with Lemon & Paeroa; now all becomes clear! :drunken:

I used to go to the Church with a load of Aussies and Kiwis too! Great fun!

Welcome, Micheal.

We make elderflower cordial each spring/summer, and we also feed branches/leaves to our goats.

Welcome Michael. I'm in NZ also. So elderberries like the wet do they? Not hard to provide that on the west coast.
