Thank you! I've never had endive in a cooked dish - must see if I can get something that's suitable...
In northern Germany, where I come from, curly kale is traditionally served with some kind of smoked sausage, too (or cooked with fatty, cured pork). But they cook it separately from the potatoes. I use chopped chorizo here instead - I think that comes pretty close to the original taste.

I've actually never seen a black radish before. I will have to try it. Hopefully the local garden center has some seeds.

@doofaloofa: That's easy! You must be talking about the best cheese in the world. The cheese which used to be colored with the juice of poppy flowers.

I was actually born in Edam, so would have been a shame if I hadn't known the answer

I really had to think about that... Oh dear, brain a bit slow!

But I didn't know about the colouring with poppies. You always learn something new! (How on earth did they do that? Did they actually colour the entire cheese - like the red cheddar or Leicester - or just the rind?)

I'm not sure to be honoust. I suspect they coloured the cheese and as they stopped doing it, they kept a red rind to have it keep its typical colour. But this is only a guess!

Hoi uit het wonderschone Rotterdam (greetings from the wonderful city of Rotterdam)

I am envious of the amount of space you have. I only have a balcony to grow on at the moment and although it is a nice size, it comes no where near your 800m2. Lovely to meet other people from our small country here on the forum. Hope you have a good time here and find lots of things that will interest you

Greets,
Roos

Hi Roos, that's the big advantage of living in the countryside. The average garden size in Friesland is a lot different from the ones in Rotterdam ;). Do you manage to grow stuff on your balcony, or behind the windows?

I start them off behind the windows and when the weather is good I harden them of and keep them on the balcony. I haven't had much luck these last few years (mainly due to poor maintenance) but I've got a feeling this will be my lucky year.

My main focus is tomato's, paprika, peas, beans, potato's, strawberries and herbs. I don't grow a lot of them, just as many as I can fit.
