Newcomer - crafter, soaper, rugmaker, beekeeper...

Post: # 276775Post Wonderloops »

Hello,

Looking forward to sharing ideas here. I am a West Country beekeeper (Warré - no treatment and minimum intervention), soap-maker, rugmaker and mum of teens. I am self-employed from home with an art-based business. I also make toothbrush rugs and am happy to share expertise on these - they are a brilliant way of using old sheets/clothes to make rugs that will literally last a lifetime. We have a tiny garden but grow a few veggies and make our own comfrey 'power fertiliser' from a rainwater downpipe set up. We keep Pekin bantams free range and raise chicks each year. If I am able to share any tips on any of these am happy to do so. Look forward to 'meeting' others here.

Emma ~

Hello and welcome. We hope the search facilities will be sorted out soon.

I don't know what a toothbrush rug is, I am interested in making rugs myself, but not really been a crafty type, I have loads of alpaca fibre that I have to learn to process, I was thinking about making some rugs from that but don't know how to go about it

alpaca might need carding with some sheep fleece if you intend making rugs with it, maybe a peg loom rug ?
