Family of ish people here. Born in the UK and been living in france on our little smallhold for the past 7 years. Pretty much self sufficient now in veggies and meat and still enjoying our change of lifestyle tremendously.

Thanks for the welcome thrifty. Nice article on Madeleines. We saw that programme too and a Madeleine tray is now on our list of "things to buy". BTW I tried to like your facebook page from your blogsite but for some reason it didn't appear to work, I had to manually go into fb and like your page form there....

thanks David! I can thoroughly recommend the madeleine tray we have (the one you see on the blog), the little cakes came out so easily and they browned well too - not always guaranteed with a lightweight tin!
Not sure what happened with the 'like' button - probably a Wordpress issue (I've had a few of those over the last week!). Hopefully it will put itself right...I won't know until someone else goes to my blog and presses the Facebook 'Like' button ...gentle hint...

Hi Caroline, thanks for the welcome. We are based in the Limousin region, I am assuming you are from "up North" around Sologne perhaps? ;-) Looks like you have got a nice little project going on there, I've liked your fb page so I can follow your progress.

Yep, Sologne it is
I have never been to Limousin, but I suspect it is a nice place, a bit less wet than where we are I think.
We certainly have a project and a half as I always say, but hubby is the one doing most of it. I only do some painting and the garden, so we can have our own veg and fruits all through the year. I will probably introduce animals at one point, but I am not sure I will have time this year, so maybe next year. I want to start talking of my gardening on the web-site this year, so you may find some of my post there if you keep an eye...
What animals have you got on your small holding?

We keep chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, rabbits, pigeons, sheep and Pigs. We still long for a nice red juicy beef steak though!!

Whoa, nice mixture. A nice piece of Limousin beef would be a nice addition. Some lovely steaks in those big cows.

Yeah back in the country and it will be a year on the 24th......... ALREADY!!!!
I am still not getting use to my mad country. So much paper work we filled up......... I think I will write a book about French services, and it may be a big book, because I already had way too many bad experiences. But other than that it is so nice to see the deer in the morning and all the birds and have my own big garden....
