Thanks everyone. I live in the Carolinas and enjoy gardening and anything outdoorsy. I also knit quite a bit. My ultimate goal is to aquire a tract of land and live totally off the grid. I know this will take time. I am very realistic! Always looking for new and creative ways to love mother earth. I think this forum will offer lots of useful info. Hopefully I will have some things to contribute as well.

Is the weather that different over there? What I mean is do you have lots of rain, frosts until about march (sometimes June) a hot summer and then tailing off to get cold again in the autumn (fall).
