I've got hideous pink sh0es with lime green stiletto heels and a turquoise trim..... now I don't google this kind of thing. Nothing I see in the ads bears any resemblance whatsoever on what I look at on the internet. I thought they were due to key words in the threads of the forum.
Like tea, tea, nice cup of tea, tea tea tea tea.
Let's see if that works again.

I've got 'start a subway franchise' which bears no relation to anything I've ever searched for. Sometimes on websites I get John Lewis adverts with pictures of things I've searched for, e.g. when we were having our bathroom done I was inundated with pictures of mirrored bathroom cabinets because I'd searched, but actually it was a waste of time because I'd bought one by then from B&Q and it's not the kind of thing you'd buy often, is it? In fact I hope not to have our bathroom done again for a good 40 years going by how old the last one looked when we took it out

Thankfully I've now got greenhouses both top and side (although of course now I'm in the reply window I have various French things including funerals at the top and blondes to date in English on the side) - and I haven't been searching for any of these things.

That's better - now I have the RSPB.
Maybe it was that search I did for attractive coloured birds.

I might consider franchising Mornington Crescent.

Does the site get a percentage of the business generated by the ads?
If so it's a tough choice between hideous pink shoes, dating someone in lycra or buying a franchise for the London Underground.

I click on most of the ads I see here - for that very reason. But some I won't click on, in case I get accused of doing strange Google searches for esoteric subjects.
Oh ... hang on ...

Well see this is the problem, I don't click on those ads because I just assume they are spam! I'm not clicking on hideous shoes or Japanese girlies for anyone, not even to keep this site in business.
I will click on a few greenhouse and green related things from now on though!

Just seen an ad for Daleks - well I assume that's what it was. The heading was Exterminators in Essex!
