Chicken house Question

Post: # 5735Post 2steps »

My next door neighbours are moving and leaving behind a large dog kennel. I was thinking of aqurring it  as a chicken house. Do I need to do anything inside it, like build nest boxes or anything?

all you need to put in is a perch, at least 2" wide with rounded edges. You can box off a corner for a nest box. ours just lay in a corner, not fussed about a box.

Just make sure the nest spot is away from the perches, or it will get dirty quickly.

just another thought, try and hinge the lid if you can, or one side, just to make cleaning easier.

we put wood shavings in the bottom and just pick out the "solids" in the morning. easier than the rabbit and guinea pigs we've got.
