Set them FREE!

I'm winding down the rabbit meat production, and so have two does and a buck spare

I'm contemplating allowing the does to goe free range in our field. i spent a good bit of time and money fox proofing an acre or so, so they would be quite safe, and hopefully disinclined to burrow out

perhaps neuter the buck and let him out as well

Opinions?

It sounds like a good plan. They will dig and make a den (don't know if that is the right word for it) though. I don't know if you have any other plans for that field but it issomething to think about.

I think neutering the buck is a brilliant idea, that way they can live their lives as proper rabbits. Why have you stopped rabbit meat?

I'm Ok with them digging a little retirement cottage, there is space enough for them

@MKG, not the kind of 'gold watch' I think they had in mind after a life time of hard work

due to a general lack of intrest

The restaurants around here are not interested, despit giving out plenty of free samples, and the wife won't eat it at all

the kids like it well enough, but they prefer chicken, so I'll just produce more chicken

plan B is to sell the whole kit and caboodle (the 3 rabbits and 6 mobile hutches) if I can find a buyer

I quite agree, doofa. I'm delighted to discover that you are, after all, just a big softie at heart

Set them free, someone might not be as kind to them as you, they will live out their natural lives and you will have a warm glow of good karma about you

Well i sold the buck and one of the does, but the last doe is now full free range, hopping around the field, enjoying her retirement

It's kind of nice when she comes over to say hi when i am in the field
