we are plannimng to get a bunch of day old broilers this year so we will need some way to keep the little fellows warm

Any advice on the best set up, equipment etc?

The local hungarian thing is to use a 60W light and place it in a large glass jar. The jar retains the heat and the chickens can snuggle up to it and stay work. Get a box insulate with cardboard and you should be ok? I can upload some pictures later on if wanted

Here in Bulgaria they use a chrome backed heat bulb like the ones you see over food service counters to keep food warm. Not that cheap to run and you have to make sure it is far enough away so that you don't roast your birds, but they need enough room so that they can choose how warm to be. Luckily we brought a red light bulb out with us.

I use an "electric hen", quite expensive but works well and is foolproof.

Have you found a source of day old broiler chicks locally Doofa ?
We were thinking of getting some Cobbs but the only source I could find was up Dublin way. A long round trip.

FridayAdd is my main sorce, but not sure this year

Found some Doofa, advert in the Southern Star by a man in Ballylickey.
3 and 4 week old, so shouldn't need any heat (or not much)
