goats for meat

Post: # 271043Post Potter's Farm »

What is the maximum age for slaughtering goats for meat? We have a 3 - 4 year old female who we have just found out is sterile. Sad as it is, she is of no use to us. Would the meat be tough? We eat mutton and thought it might be similar.

we eat it regularly. Cook it long and slow. This is a favourite at the mo, although i would boil it for 3 or 4 hours rather than the 90 mins this recipe says. good luck!

Goat meat makes really good sausages too.UK type sausages are easy, but experiment with air drying a few, think maybe ,white wine ,bit of smoke, give it a go,could be pretty interesting.Don't forget to keep the skin. BWs.

Treat it like venison, the meats are similar enough.
