New to the radio

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

New to the radio

Post: # 129066Post Milims »

Yesterday I bought one of those radios that fit under the kitchen cupboard. I've been after one for ages and I'm really looking froward to getting lots of use out of it. The thing is - I just don't know what to listen to!. I usualy have radio 2 on in the car - I like Terry! But I'd really like to listen to plays, stories and interesting discussions as well as some good music. I HATE commercial radio and very "poppy" kind of music - I think I'm getting old!
So what do you suggest and how do I find it?

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Radio 4, radio 4, radio 4 and maybe some radio 4 :flower:

If it is digital may I suggest a little Radio 7 for comedy.

I can only listen to BBC, I will go mad if I have to hear adverts on radio, the ones for Eastenders are bad enough

But I am sure Ina will be along soon to second my radio 4 vote

You sound like a natural for Radio 4 (which I love) for everything but music. As for that, it depends on your preferences. Classic FM, if that's your taste, is excellent.

Guess what station I stumbled upon first? Guess what station I've been listening to for most of today?
MKG my music taste is excelent - if a little ecclectic! lol! Purcell to the Prodigy just about covers it!

Radio 4.
I like Radio 2 in the car, if I fancy a singsong (I'm usually by myself).

There are also some great programmes on Radio Scotland - but that might not help you!

I like radio 1 - but only during the day!
To compensate - my radio is a wind up one - so I have to put effort in to listen to it!

GreenAura, thank you very much! I'm not very computery, but, there were instructions for Mac-users and I think I've now got BBC radio on my bookmarks bar. I live near a mountain and the shortwave reception is almost nil here. The AM and FM stations don't come is that well, either. This is great. I've just clicked on Radio Wales.

I appreciate the link!

Yes all BBc networks can got on the web and you can listen to the radio at the same time you do your thing on the pooeter and run a little speaker from the pooter to the kitchen from the phones outlet.

Oldfella, I've gone and tried it! GreenAura posted a link, and I managed to get the thing to work. I've now listened to a church service from Wales, a concert in Scotland, and my standby BBC World Service. That's the one I've listened on the shortwave for twenty years.

My house is small enough that I can hear the little speaker in my Macbook when I'm in the kitchen. Works fine.

It's not as romantic as listening to the shortwave, or my old tube radio, but, at least I can listen to the radio. And it's still the wireless!
