I presume to are talking about outside in your garden, so spring cabbages, but you would have to buy the plants at your garden centre, which also might have winter lettuce plants and spring onions.
Also onion sets, shallots and garlic, and seeds; broad beans and round seeded peas can all go in between now and the end of November.

Some of the seed catalogue companies have started doing plug plant offers e.g. 40 assorted autumn-planted brassicas for £x. It might be worth having a look round a few of those too.

I think some neglected things that we can do indoors to boost our health is to sprout seeds to eat, I have just bought some sunflower, pumpkin, alfalfa seeds and puy lentils to sprout indoors for healthy additions to sandwiches and winter salads. All good advice from Odsox and Green Aura

I love sprouts but it is hard to get into the routine

Don't forget chickpeas, dnd, they're fabulous sprouted. I like to mix a few that have similar length sprouting times so I don't get fed up of any one type and change the mix regularly.

I know what you mean about routine though, doofa, I have been known to find a tray of desiccated sprouts that I'd forgotten about.

I love sprouted chickpeas. you do need a bit of a routine, but of course, you can do a nice batch and give them a good rinse and drain and they keep very well in the fridge in a container for days. Perhaps we should start a sprouted seeds thread, so as it give us a reminder every now and again, we could post when we are sprouting and what etc, bit like weight watchers but for sprouts
