Roses in potatoes

Hello! Has anyone else heard of taking rose cuttings by putting them in potatoes - does it work, do they become surrounded by a field of potatoes?

Have never heard of that but sounds interesting.

Do you mean putting the cutting in one potato or in a crop of growing potatoes?

I read this on another forum, it would appear that you stick the cutting into the spud which gives it moisture etc and then you when you harvest the potatoes, you just dig up the cutting at the same time and pot on

That's it. That's all I know about it. Does anyone on here know anymore about it?

Never heard of it before but it seems reasonable it could work.

Might have something to do with hormones as well as the food/water aspect. Having said that I don't think roses are that difficult to strike cuttings from. I've got a lovely one just flowered from a bunch of cheap cut roses I bought in Asda last year.
