I used vegetableseeds.net for some of my stuff this year (I drew up my wishlist from the DT Brown catalogue and then looked to see what I could get cheaper elsewhere), and I got free P&P despite my order only being £4.00 odd

I'm giving DT Brown a final shot this year at the rest. I've not been overly impressed by them over the last two seasons, but it's hard to work out whether it's the seeds, or the phenomenally horrible summers we've had recently. But I had NO carrots or beetroot germinate at all last year. Not one. And there were three different varieties of each.

Could be the weather Jac , my haul was c**p last year but I put that down to other things so a concerted effort by me this year

It might be worth trying to chit some seeds indoors and see what kind of germination you get. I often chit and then fluid sow carrots and parsnips, you can start off early beetroot in modules and then transplant them, sometimes a bit more successful than direct sowing, especially with the crappy weather we have been having, my fluid sown carrots were far better than the direct sown ones last year.

Went with seeds4less,and Tuckers for onion and Tom seeds,both delivered in 24hrs,at a good price,will probably get the rest from Wilkos',(their seed pots are pretty reasonable too,but our local branch was out of Rocket).The big companies,given the recent price rises in all seeds,are definately worth a swerve.

Incidently,I think our Blackbirds have come down from Up North,when 4''of snow melted yesterday,they'd been at the bloody garlic again,.....UNDERNEATH THE SNOW!!!!!

Sorry to keep bumping this thread,and this will be of zero interest to anyone outside Western Europe,but I happened upon the lidl in Worcester today,and they've got veg seed from 25p!!..Limited range though.

I think that Thurston Garden (opening post) might have been thinking of Alan Romans which did a wide variety of common veg seeds at low prices (no fancy packaging or instructions with the seeds but good prices). Has been taken over by Thompson and Morgan, the owner now just does seed potatoes for them (which was always his main offering anyway).

Great seed company web links, I'm starting my vegetable plot this year as I'm redesigning and revamping my garden so glad I came across this thread with the links.

Another vote for Premier Seeds Direct. I've used these for the past 4 years and never had a problem with them, prices are good, range is a little limited on some things, postage, as has been mentioned, is very competitive and the seed is good.

Can't fault them, and happy to recommend them. (No affiliation to the company btw lol)
