I read it too and one other that I can't remember. Perhaps I need to sit under a very large pyramid to get my memory back!

Yeah, I read all of Von Daniken's books and came to the conclusion that while he had some very good questions, his answers were mostly bull. Read some years later about him admitting to making up some of his "evidence", particularly for his book "Gold of the Gods".

I made a point of reading one or two of his source books, written by learned people, who came to reasonble conclusions (not involving extre-terrestrials), he cited their research and ignored their conclusions. Probably made a packet though.........which I suspect was his intention.

Yep! I was fascinated by it back in the '70s when it was BIG! Even tried to sharpen my razor blade with one......................to no effect .

Did you read Lyall Watson's Supernature back then? In my early twenties I found that fascinating (though I tried re-reading it in my more critical middle-age and found it unreadable). The razorblade in a pyramid got a mention in it, with, IIRC, the author claiming some success. Needless to say he sported a full beard in those days.

He wrote a few other books in similar vein, one of which (The Romeo Error) did pose the seriously interesting puzzle about how hard it is to identify when we actually die; much of us is dead already, yet we are alive; when we are dead, many of the processes that maintain life continue.

Like Charriots Of The Gods, I think the conclusions in these books can often be challenged more critically than we seemed to do when they were first published.

Bizarrely, Lyall Watson went on to be the man who brought us Sumo wrestling on Channel 4 in the UK.

Yep, Stew, certainly did...................probably still have the original copy around somewhere, but haven't looked at it in years, interests change and all that! Had the romeo error too, but never got around to reading it

How old are you Cheddarpaul? Maybe not old enough to remember all the magical properties of pyramids that were touted by a number of authors back in the '70s!

One of their supposed powers was if you suspended a blunt razor blade a certain way up inside a pyramid with the exact (scaled down) dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Cheops it would harness the powers of the universe to sharpen it! If that sounds like bull that's only because it is

I remember all those books, they had a huge following but wasn't there some scandal? Something about an aboriginal being paid to churn out authentic 1000 year old aboriginal art on cave walls?

I remember the fuss about the pyramids, but I never bothered to read those books - sounds like I didn't miss a lot! I was hooked on Lord of the Rings...
Anyway, I know that some people had their greenhouses built like pyramids - has anybody heard of their success or otherwise? I haven't see any like that around for a long time now. Maybe they were just to expensive.
