Bloody hell... A packet of seeds would go in a letter - and as far as I know, the Royal Mail doesn't charge extra wherever the letter goes!
I remember when any Aberdeen postcode would be charged extra... Aberdeen, oil capital of the world (allegedly), but so remote that transport costs double??? I don't know whether they still do that. (Was it Screwfix or somebody like that?) I have the advantage that I live in Aberdeenshire but have a Dundee postcode (about 8 miles from the border to Angus). So I got the cheaper rate...

Believe me that packet of seeds goes in a padded envelope which doesn't fit into the normal letter post. For some reason packets of seeds can't be trusted to Royal Mail in a normal envelope (knowing some of the local posties I think I know why).

Peanuts
Dug up a couple of days ago and stripped today, yield just under half a kilo.
Fun to do, but not that economical.
I'll turn these into peanut butter when they mature, at the moment they taste like fresh hazel nuts, so need leaving in the sun for a few weeks.

Apparently in the US boiled peanuts in their shells are a delicacy - I'm not sure if you eat the shell or just suck the peanuts out.

Yes, nice sunny periods between all these pesky showers. They are in the conservatory along with the squash.
Those were grown in a patch roughly 2' x 6' and apart from weeding early on were very easy to grow. Don't think I'll grow them next year though, but I can guarantee I'll grow something equally unusual instead.

I can see why. 1/2 kg from a patch that size isn't really worth it - unless you can eat any of the rest of the plant, I suppose. Are those leaves useable?

I doubt it although I never tried nibbling them.
How did your turmeric growing go?
I left some roots with buds to sprout, nothing happened, then about 6 months later they suddenly started growing.
I planted them in a trough and there is now 4 healthy looking plants about 18 inches tall.
Another interesting project.....

Abslutely fine. They're now competeing with a spider plant, thatwhich managed to root itself in the same pot, and holding their own nicely. I harvest once a year, change the compost and leave a few bits in. They just keep coming back and rather attractive plants, to boot.

We don't get a huge crop but you wouldn't expect much from a 10" pot.

Well we've just harvested our entire crop of apples - after cutting out a few chewed bits we've got 4.4kg. They're all shapes and sizes so we're going to make a gallon of scrumpy.

We may have to buy some apple juice to top it up to a gallon.

Still picking sizeable quantities of strawberries.
Still full of flavour, but the sweetness is disappearing due to lack of sun. But very nice chopped up and drizzled with some maple syrup for breakfast muesli.

I get 2 pickings like this every week, and they just keep coming.
