Willow loosing it's vigour?

Post: # 285350Post doofaloofa »

This year's basket willow seems a lot less vigorous, but in a good way

It has non of the big thick withies, that are a bit useless for fine work, and seem a lot more regular and better quality

The stools are about 14 y/o, and have been cut religiously

Have they matured or are they declining?

Oh yes, and by 'religiously' I mean, with a dress on

Maybe they don't like the dress. Or they do which is why they've bent to your will(ow). See what I did there?

My willows have grown very long thin withies this year as well, which I had put down to me walking around wearing just a smile, the cattle at the back have also taken to keeping a good distance away and the chickens have stopped laying. So correct attire for withies, but I need to find the correct attire to get the chickens laying again, any advice?

My last 2 years growth on willow has been slow. I guess it has been a cold 2 springs/summers really.
