Missing Veg

Post: # 275814Post Pumkinpie »

Why do people help themselves to veg on our allotment site?
Cabbages, cauliflowers and marrows all have vanished over the last few days.
There are some naughty two legged animals about. Our four legged ones don't use knives to remove the veg.
Do they not realise the time and effort that goes into growing veg.
I have some pumpkins and marrows I am growing for the show I hope they don't disappear whilst I am in Yorkshire for a coupe of days.

Missing beg should be missing Veg.
Sorry I don't know how to change the title of a topic

They were selling surveilance cameras in Lidl that took a still image every few seconds, with a billion image storage (or something)

Night vision too!

Get evidence and prosecute the thieving barstewards

Would other allotment users group together to install some kind of security? Don't think it'd work out too expensive if everyone chipped in.

Reminds me of a story I heard here about a watermelon field. A guy was having his melons stolen on a nightly basis so he put up a sign at the entrance to the field on which he had written 'one of these melons has been injected with a deadly poison', thinking this would deter his light-fingered nightly visitor.

The next morning he turned up and saw, written at the bottom of his sign, "Now two of them are poisoned!"

I want one, to see what comes into my garden at night (the shitting cat mainly I suspect)

You would hope that if someone stole your veg, it was because they were very hungry, but this is a problem on allotment sites. I was on an allotment site that installed big spikey fence and sticky paint that won't come off your hands, it is a shame it has to be done, but in 20 years of being on allotments in the past, it is always a problem.

Great idea doofaloofa. I will suggest it to the committee.
If we have a good turnout for the show and make some dosh it could be very useful.
Especially as they are building a stack of low cost housing right next to the site so in a few months time we are going to have lots of new neighbours.

Off to feed my pumpkin, I am hoping nobody nicks it before the pumpkin show in October. It is growing well. I think a forklift truck might be needed in October if it keeps growing. My feed tub had a accident and tipped over so it got a months feed very quickly. I will make a new tub today, lots of comfrey , chicken excrement and a bottle of Tom feed i got cheap mix together , with a bucketful, of my own magic brew of yeasts and beneficial microorganisms and what do you get? Yes golden pumpkin feed. Sorry I have a obsession and I want to beat those men , not with a stick, but by having a bigger pumpkin than them. I want to be pumpkin queen!

I can remember exactly but it was between 4 1/2 and 5 stone.
It went to a church in Birmingham and made soup for over 300 people.
It was a couple of years ago but this one could be bigger.
That year my helper carved a smaller one with Dr Who and the tardis . He won first prize it looked fantastic with the candle lit.
Feed made and used. I will need to give it a good water every couple of days whilst its warm and sunny.
