OK I should read my posts- that should have said BURN the tree for ash! Sorry I hope you havn't been digging a hole to bury it I will feel very guilty :oops:
The ash has lots of minerals, really good for brassicas and legumes especially I'm told, and helps deter slugs too so I'm also told.

Nettles, alos great as nettle tea as a fertiliser- I have grown to love them, except when I'm weeding and I don't notice they are there.

hahaha, i havent had the chance to go up for the past week, ive been re-enacting in kent and goin to gigs and goin to london and here there and everywhere =|

next week i really must get down there and get clearing!

hurrah! most of the grass has been cut down (using hand shears, 4 chops at a time..........) mom & dad have cleared most of the brambles and things at the top. theres still a load of rubbish to clear,, old bricks and things. within the next fortnight ill prolly have the first veg patch going, avec onions and garlic =D =D =D

I got my plot this year, it was four foot high in weeds. I was there at seven the first morning making a great big compost heap!

my friend came round and dug the first patch today and we started on the second =D and the guy who has a plot just over the dirt track from me has offered me the rest of his onions =D

Thats what I love about allotmenteers, realy community spirit. Everyone has something thay ahve grown a bit too much of and they all hate waste so it's share & share alike.
