Re: how long should/did you breastfeed for?
Hi Helsbells I guess the thing to do is play it by ear when baby comes - it is rarely how you expect. I just wanted to say teeth have no bearing on breastfeeding or weaning. My youngest son had all his teeth before I stopped breastfeeding him and never injured me at all (he teethed early). My daught...

Re: how long should/did you breastfeed for?
In some ways it depends where you live. If you have no safe water supply/low quality or little available food I would say for as long as practically possible. I believe WHO guidelines are now 2 years. Socially acceptable becomes what the majority do so in some cultures breastfeeding at 5 is OK, in o...

Re: Spotty Baby - Help!
Hi Lots of babies get rashes/milk spots when they are new - their skin isn't used to being exposed to the world and takes time to settle. I have 4 children so speak from experience. I am sure others can see he is beautiful - all babies are. Look around you and you will see babies with flakey scalps ...

Hi Sarah
Bramble jams and jellies are good:).
I have grown flowers in an old toilet once when my rented 'garden' consisted of concrete. Looked quite nice once they were all trailing and you could no longer make out the pan!
welcome to Ish

Re: Crystalized Flowers
Hi Jerry I believe a cup is 8oz, that is what I use when I convert from American recipes to English. They have a strange way (to me) of using measuring cups for cooking so it would be 8oz for stuff like sugar but a cup of marshmallows would weigh considerably less! Be careful though, when I was temp...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?
Hi In England we are now protected by law to feed our babies under 6 months in public. Cafe owners/shop keepers cannot legally ask you not to. However once baby reaches 6 months things change. Nobody has ever complained about me feeding in public but some people are clearly uncomfortable. I must say...

Re: Does anyone NOT have a television?
My older two (18 and 15) watch far too much, I would love to get rid of the evil box but fear their would be riots! My younger children (3 and 8months) don't watch any TV and I rarely watch anything. I definately think my 3 year old son has benefitted, he has a good imagination, self entertains well...

Re: Cut flowers
thanks for the replies. I have some seeds from last years sweet peas so they are definately getting planted - I hadn't thought of using them as a cut flower before. Do Dahlias have enough stem? Mine seem quite short - maybe a different variety? Will look up the other suggestions - my botanical knowl...

Hi Some councils give a grant towards real nappies - here you get £30 if you spend £45. Some councils are more generous than others. I got a voucher which I used towards the cost but I could have been refunded after purchase if I preferred. It is worth contacting your council and finding out. JuzaMum
