Re: Supporting the Economy

It might be worth giving them a ring to see if you can get an order to collect out of hours or have delivered. Most small businesses are seriously struggling to get enough custom at the moment and a lot of them are offering local deliveries, or pick ups, to boost it. They don't deliver. They were s...

Re: Supporting the Economy

My local farm shop is re-opening soon after a winter break. Unfortunately, they now won't do the late opening on Thursdays any more - was I the only customer who used that time? So now it's just another local business that only caters for people who don't have to work for a living. There are so many...

Re: What is there to get rid of light fluff on black laundry?

There used to be sticky rolls that did the job. Don't know whether you can still get them. But the question was for something to put in the machine with the clothes...

Re: What is there to get rid of light fluff on black laundry?

No idea! A lighthearted suggestion - buy clothes in the colour of your cat... Or a black cat, if you have a lot of black clothes already.

Re: Has this forum died?

I usually prefer the cold, but there's a limit... And my little mobile heater has developed some very worrying noises, so is out of action. Must get a new one. Even without that, temperature in the bedroom *where I spend most of my time) is now 13 degree C, which is positively balmy compared to the ...

Re: Useful tips for starting on a self sufficientish path

I'd never experienced people who preferred food out of tins/packets to home made until I came to Scotland... Never forget some woman saying my rice pudding was ok, but not as good as the "real" stuff... With which she meant out of a tin. Yuk. They obviously never cooked at home at all.

Re: Has this forum died?

All gone here. It looked nice while it lasted, but I must admit I prefer to be able to walk about without fear of slipping.

Now - spring can come along!

Snowdrops out in full force. Cat stays outside again all day, and sometimes all night.

Re: Has this forum died?

You certainly get plenty of exercise! My cat stays indoors at the moment...
I'm waiting to see if the buses are running normally this morning - I think they should do, at least there's not been more snow overnight here.

Re: Has this forum died?

Nice view,though!

I'm wearing so many layers... Don't even want to think about it. Barely gets up to 11 degree in the one room in my house that I have the heater on in. Not working costs a lot in electricity!

Re: Has this forum died?

The local bus got stuck on a road downhill towards the village yesterday... I'm staying put another day. The main road should be clear by now, but this morning nothing was moving, and I didn't want to stay on twitter waiting for updates for hours, only then to find that I had to stand at another bus...

Re: Has this forum died?

I stayed home today... Unfortunately I can't work from home (lab), so I took a day's leave. Have to see tomorrow morning how the roads are; buses have been running today, but late, and not in the evening.

How are things with you all?

Re: Has this forum died?

Nice photos. Wish I could be bothered to get my camera out and working... Just been and done my weekly butcher's shop in Stonehaven - just drizzle, with the odd bit of white mixed in, and cold wind. A day to stay at home (like so many others  ). Made the coffee, time to put my egg on, and then ...

Re: Has this forum died?

Hey folks - are you all snowed in? Advantage of living on the coast - no snow so far (none to speak of, none that stayed), but plenty of wind and miserable weather. Don't think I'll be doing anything in the garden this weekend apart from pulling a leek while it's daylight and picking a little parsle...

Re: Has this forum died?

I'm terrified of falling on the ice... Can't afford to end up in hospital - who would look after the cat? She's so antisocial; runs a mile if she sees anybody other than me. I keep thinking I should be doing something for the garden, but I've got lazy over the past few years. My friend always grows ...

Re: Has this forum died?

Beautiful, frosty, sunny day today. The snowdrops are out - I bought the first British daffs this week - and just as well I hadn't planned on cooking anything with leek in it, I couldn't get them out of the ground no matter how! But spring seems to be on the way. There's traces of daylight in the sk...
