Re: 101 professions for a self-sufficientish, thinking perso
Found my last post nearly 2yrs ago! Have now taken early retirement and work as an agency nurse, as often as I need the money. Luckily there is always work and I pick and choose where and when. So much less stress, time to live instead of work, and other staff are pleased to see me instead of tellin...

Re: Weather!
We still have howling winds, and very local showers / storms. Last night I did a night shift and it was really cold..had to turn all the radiators on! Maybe the summer will start soon and go on till end November??

Re: Wilted cucumber plant
Apparently its a miniture version and, despite coddling does seem to be rotten below the surface. Thanks Odsox, know which one to get next year or even this year if Dave can get over the grief! He never looks after plants as much as he has this one

Re: Recession?What recession???
I agree with you Boboff, but I think a lot of people who complain dont do it to the right people...go to the top every time! They tend to be more defensive of their reputation especially if it is an owner. I ordered our first expensive sette and was told it would be eight weeks before delivery...12w...

Re: Films kids *have* to see
Men in Black 1,2 & 3. I know I shouldn't but I really like them. Why not? Has a sense of humour, silliness and a story, I love them too! Agree with all Roald Dahl inc. BFG and Witches. What about Lion King and the Walt Disney classic like Dumbo, Jungle book etc...especially for the younger kids...

Wilted cucumber plant
We had a lovely, large, healthy looking cucumber plant growing in a pot. Have left it outside on sunny days and bring it in at night to protect it from the wind and rain. The other morning it had completely wilted and now looks terminally ill! No signs of disease, bugs and has not been over or under...

Re: Solar panel installation
Actually, I did not even say which company and see there are several adverts..(at least on my page). I have held off for the moment as we are not sure that we want the panels on that particular roof although it means we can get 4kw...its much more visible. We have a smaller roof at the rear which is...

Re: The "Spanish Bank"
That was exactly the problem with our acccount, we just accepted the transfer to Santander. I have every sympathy with Alliance & Leicester employees, I had a conversation with a former worker who had left as she hated the ethos and systems of Santander. Hope Pbf and P&P have a better experi...

Re: The "Spanish Bank"
Had a bad experience with same bank and posted it on "small things that annoy you". You have my sympathy, after several months I finally managed to transfer to another bank who get great reveiws for customer service and actually really deserve them. AND they paid me £100 for joining! Vote ...

Re: Pallet Computer Desk!
Very impressed! Did you find the glass first and decide to make it into a desk or did you have the pallet and look for the glass? I am jealous, our "converted" (hole drilled in the back for all the cables) bureaux cost £120! (it is sort of antique)

@@@**!! Birds and sweet corn!
Accidentally left the trays of sweetcorn plants out last night and this morning there are only about 4/25 left! Anyone got a couple of buzzards I can hire? Also our wisteria (about 5yrs old) actually poroduced flower spikes this year...till the birds got them! OH is now grumbling if I put any birdfo...
