Re: What's wrong with fennel?

I use fennel seed for micro salads, not that I eat it because I hate anything that tastes of aniseed, liquorice or celery. The only use I have for fennel seed is in some curries.

Re: Morbid question alert

I think the funeral directors would want to be made aware of that beforehand, I don't really think you could arrange for a funeral without having that part of it decided. Most people these days are cremated because of the costs of buying a grave.

Re: Hot weather and water

I always grow everything through mulches, it seems to keep what water there is in the soil. Even in NW Ireland, there are now starting to restrict water use. We have a very good spring well so no problems there. I am hoping to set up my large selection of water butts so I can have an emergency suppl...

Re: Morbid question alert

The local council deals with this. There are things called paupers funerals that are arranged by the local authority if there are no relative. Alternatively, you can leave your body to medical science and when you die, a private ambulance takes the body and keeps it for up to 5 years and then provid...

Re: Worried about daughter/grandkids!

I think that is the only thing you can do. They are adults and have four children so they should provide for the children themselves, not expect hand outs all the time. It is a really difficult situation. I have no contact anymore with my daughter and her 3 children as they were making me ill, never...

Re: Worried about daughter/grandkids!

I wonder if it might be worth you inviting your daughter and her children for a mini break to your place for a few days, saying it would be nice to be able to give her a little break from everything and then maybe have a frank conversation with her about what is going on and voice your concerns abou...

Re: Worried about daughter/grandkids!

It's quite tricky really. They are grown ups and you have helped them over the years. They obviously think you are going to bail them out with the uniforms or they wouldn't have mentioned the costs of them. Do you have your grandchildren to stay with you over the school holidays? How do they seem as...
