Re: B-----ds
Personally, I think they should also stop cars driving within 50 miles of any estate that has pheasants, cos I am sure that there are more roadkill than buzzards kill! Stupid birds are always either running or landing on the road in front of our car. I am sure common sense will rule......

Re: Quick question
Our compost heap in Portugal NEVER has worms though and we have never seen a worm and very few slugs in the land either even after rain when there are loads on the grass in UK. It is very sandy / rocky, is this why? Any idea if it is possible to persuade them to visit our compost...it is lovely and ...

Re: Decluttering garage sale
Wow, thats an impressive garage sale! I would never have dared get all my clutter out in one batch...got rid of it via freecycle in small batches and had a small table in bootfair!

Re: Quick question
My understanding is that there will be worms around as long as the compost is warm and on dirt / grass. But I expect there will be more definitive answers arriving soon!

Re: debt collection agencies - advice needed
CCG, I beleive you can ask Royal Mail to intercept letters addressed to her at the sorting office. Might be worth a try. Had the same problem with past occupant of our house..and my son who was a postie arranged this for us. I agree with Boboff (keep doing that!) the credit card companies have a lot...

Ooh, forget the woodburner...I want a Tow-a-Vardo! The do woodburners look good too and as, Boboff says, not very expensive with great reviews!

Re: Log piles
Cute...we did not take photos as the mum had actually had them in a small gap between the logs which were in danger of collapsing and crushing them when we removed wood for the fire! Emergency removal took place into a black bin on its side (mum was off somewhere) and when she returned we made lots ...

Re: Dog cruelty?
I've seen bears being trained to "dance" (Eastern Turkey about 25 years ago) and the comparison is a ludicrous one. Dogs - I believe - seem to enjoy the interaction, so I can't see it as being cruel unless the training methods employed use violence. Training dogs to fight, for example, is...

Re: Log piles
A couple of years ago, we cleared a space to park the car and, under the huge pile of pine cuttings, unearthed a nest of slow worms, a scorpion, centipedes as well as the usual earwigs etc. Oh and recently there was a ferral cat which had a litter of kittens in the woodpile for our burner! succesful...

Re: Does anyone NOT have a television?
Just caught this thread, and have to admit to being schizophrenic about TV. In UK we have one which OH watches a fair bit especially since he has been ill. In portugal we have no TV, no internet (unless I sit in the neighbours grandsons bedroom and access their wi-fi! A little cosy and as he gets ol...
